On Friday our neighborhood lost power (I don’t know the reason), and we decided that if we didn’t have our power back by dark that we would all camp out downstairs by the fireplace so we could stay warm. Well, as it turns out, the power was only out for about an hour. So because the camping idea had sounded fun, we decided to do it anyway. Russell set up our tent in the basement and we pulled out the sleeping bags, which the boys thought was the most fun thing ever! We made s’mores in the fireplace and only used flashlights, no lights. Then we watched a movie together. The movie of choice was Finding Nemo. After the movie, we all snuggled into the tent for the night. I think this is the best kind of camping there is, because I can sleep in my bed (which I moved to at about midnight), Keyan can still sleep well in his crib, it’s not cold, and there is still running water and a working toilet…oh, and we still get to have s’mores! It turns out, however, that the basement floor is pretty hard. So Russell and the boys also moved to their beds at about 1:30 am. It was still really fun and will be a fun memory!

A hard floor. . . ow! This looks like a family memory in the making. Those boys may not someday remember exactly how this went, but what has happened to me is that I have an overall wonderful feeling about my childhood. Although, that could be because I really have a lousy memory. As for me, I need to go get me some smores supplies. . . my mouth is watering.
