Hooray for Spring Break

Russell is on spring break this week, and it has been really productive so far!  He has added “electrician” to his resume.  None of our bedrooms had overhead lights for some reason, and the light switch controlled an outlet.  All good and fine, but we wanted to have the switch control a top light instead.  Russell has some crazy home improvement talent.  He figured out how to install a light into the ceiling where there was previously no light or wiring for such and then connect it to the light switch instead of the outlet.  It is wonderful to have more light in the bedrooms now!  He also was able to paint our bedroom.  Here is a picture of little Russell “helping.”  He got to paint his name on the wall before it was painted over.  We were doing it kind of late at night, and he was awake with us because he gave us a small…okay, a big scare.  He was going head first down his bunkbed ladder to try and reach a basketball pillow that was on the floor.  Of course, he couldn’t reach it because his arms aren’t five feet long.  He fell straight onto his head and was acting strange immediately afterwards.  We were very scared.  Russell was able to give him a blessing, and we monitored him very closely for the next few hours and made him stay awake with us.  Everything turned out all right, thank heavens!  (That was Saturday night.)

I may need to have Doug talk to Russell because I have been dying for some overhead lights. Doug can do just about everything under the sun, but claims he doesn’t do electricity.

Wow Jackie!! What do you mean by “acting strange??” That must have been quite a scare. I love the new color for the bedroom. Did Russell climb into the attic for the lights? Very fun!! Love, grandma D

He just seemed out of it and his whole body seemed kind of stiff. He held his mouth in a strange expression. It’s hard to describe, but we are so blessed that everything turned out fine. And yes, he went into the attic to do the lights. It is wonderful to have light!!!

That is one annoying thing about houses around here. They never seem to have overhead lights, just outlets for lamps. I agree that it is just annoying!
