No news is good news

There is not much new from the Leggs.  We just had a fun weekend together.  Friday night we spent in our yard playing baseball and in the water together.  We grilled dinner and then had s’mores and watched a movie outside in the tent.  The plan was to sleep out there, but Trey wanted to come right to his bed, and Russell only lasted until about 1:30.  I was planning the whole time on sleeping in my bed, so it didn’t ruin my plans!  It was still fun, though, and brought back memories of sleeping with my siblings in the tent in our yard with our Big League Chew and Cheetos in a can.  Although back then, I never made it through the night without coming in to my bed either.

Today in Primary the kids were asked the question, “What can you do now to prepare to go to the temple?”  Russell raised his hand and answered “Pick out the girl you’re going to marry.”  How cute.  I love hearing the things that come out of his mouth because it gives me a little idea of what’s going through his head.  Also, Russell is always listening to books on tape whether it is in the car or when he is going to sleep, and he loves them.  They are usually chapter books that are meant for kids that can read them, meaning older than he is.  But he loves it and often I’ll look back in the car thinking he must be asleep because he is so silent, but he is actually just listening intently.  Well, lately Russell (dad) and I will be having a conversation, and little Russell will say something in the conversation and then finish his comment with “Russell declared” or “Russell added” or “Russell exclaimed,” like he is narrating himself or something.  It is so hilarious to hear things like that coming from his mouth.

Yesterday my mom and dad celebrated 39 years of marriage.  What an awesome example.  Russell and I are coming up on 7 in November.  Every year seems to get better for us, and I pray that it will continue that way for us.  I can only imagine 39 years!  Congratulations, mom and dad, and thank you SO much for your incredible example!

I love the self narrating. And the temple comment. Those are too cute. What books has he listened to so far? That’s a really good idea for the car. We’re shopping for the next minivan, and it might not come with a DVD player, and books on trips might just be the ticket. I love you guys, and love picturing you out in the backyard doing the same things that we do in ours. Love you all.

So far he has heard several Arthur books, Mrs. Piggle Wiggle books, Grimm’s fairy tales, and Winnie the Pooh. Pretty much anything I get from the library!!

That is too funny Jackie! I had to find Steven to tell him both stories. We miss you guys and the everyday happenings that you get to experience when you live close to the little boys. We love you!

I have to say once again that I think you guys are the cutest parents ever. Plus, you have adorable boys.

Juliet was talking about how nice Russell was to play with, and I told her that if she wanted to marry Russell when she grew up that would be fine, because he was a very nice boy.

I wonder if Russell has considered that “whoever” she is she will have to pass the scrutiny of Cousin Lose!!?? And, I just cracked up when reading the self-narration section…I am pretty sure I am going to implement that immediately!!!!!!! Love, mom (she said cheerfully)
