Camping and the Air Force Museum

**This post is kind of old and has been sitting in my draft folder.  So here ya go.**

The boys got to go camping and visit the Air Force Museum all in the same weekend.  We had our ward campout, and dad took Russell and Trey.  They had a blast and loved getting out all the gear.  The next day we drove to Dayton to visit an old friend.  He is in the Air Force and was running in the Air Force Marathon in Dayton.  After the race, we visited the Air Force Museum.  I know the image the word “museum” conjures, but let me tell you, it was SO cool and humongous.  There were so many planes there for the boys to look at, and they loved it, too.  I could have spent the entire day there reading all about the old war planes, etc.  I LOVE American history and this museum had plenty of that for me.  Plus I have a MAJOR patriotic streak in me.  Unfortunately, little boys don’t exactly enjoy standing around while mom reads all the signs and plaques.  So maybe I’ll be able to enjoy that another time.  Now Russell says he is going to be in the Air Force when he grows up, and Trey says he’s going to be the airplane when he grows up…

We love that museum too. Oh the things we could do if only our kids had a longer attention span, sigh. I always feel that way at the zoo and all other things that have signs to read.

Zowie!! Now this is right up my alley…for all the same reasons as yours. Here’s a hint…go online and check out the schedules for the Blue Angels and The Thunderbirds…see if there is an airshow nearby to which you could take the family. They are usually free and simply unbelievable! Take kleenex!! Love, mom
